Photo 1: Sri Aurobindo (August 15, 1872–December 5, 1950) was an Indian nationalist, scholar, poet, Hindu mystic, evolutionary philosopher, yogi and guru. His followers further believe that he was an avatar, an incarnation of the supreme being.
Photo 2: The Mother (aka Mirra Alfassa, February 21, 1878 - November 17, 1973) – Born and raised in Paris (France), she joined Sri Aurobindo as a spiritual collaborator in 1920. She has written widely interpreting Sri Aurobindo’s message, and continued his mission.
Hindu University of America (Orlando, USA) and Sri Aurobindo Center for Advanced Research (Pondicherry, India) have recently signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on a joint graduate studies program which will lead to Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Sri Aurobindo Studies.
In the last chapter of his classic on The Essence of Yoga, Georg Feuerstein describes: "Sri Aurobindo...whose integral philosophy is today recognized and appreciated as a monumental synthesis of the highest cultural values of East and West. ... There is an immense wealth of outstanding psychological and spiritual discoveries embedded in his voluminous writings, which stand at the watershed of a new era of yogic culture." Undoubtedly, Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950) has been one of the most inspiring spiritual leaders of the world. Sri Aurobindo’s vision and influence on developing awareness and growth of humanity’s spiritual consciousness as a modern Rishi, yogi, and pioneer is immeasurable. He is the great synthesizer, bringing all under a supreme, integral and harmonious vision wherein Eastern and Western thought find their complimentary positions; ancient and the modern both find their rightful places; the individual and the universe find their harmonious relation with each other; secular and the sacred become expressions of the same divine; science and spirituality coexist shedding light on each other; matter, life, mind and spirit all are beautifully integrated as an ever evolving _expression of divine consciousness. His penetrating analysis of the perennial problems of existence, and suggested solutions will help the students to develop a deeper understanding of their own existence and their roles in life.
Sri Aurobindo Centre for Advanced Research (SACAR), based in Pondicherry, India, is devoted to cultivating a true and living education, a never-ending search for Truth and its progressive manifestation and creative _expression.
